Berlin-based Limetax has raised €36 million to build what it calls an "agentic-first" accounting and tax group, according to the company's press release. The round includes €6 million in pre-seed equity led by Motive Partners, with participation from Activant and Heliad, plus a €30 million acquisition facility from a consortium of German banks. Angel investors include former German Finance Minister Christian Lindner, former Rocket Internet executive Alexander Kudlich, and Moss founders Anton Rummel and Ante Spittler.

Founded in January 2026, Limetax brings established tax firms together under one roof and builds a proprietary AI platform for them. Eight months in, the group already spans four firms across seven locations, with around 150 employees and annualised revenue in the double-digit millions.

The idea is to tackle a structural problem: Germany's nearly 54,000 tax firms often struggle to hire enough skilled staff, even as regulation keeps getting more complex. Limetax's platform sits on top of DATEV, the software backbone of the German tax profession, and runs AI agents for bookkeeping, payroll and financial statements. Humans still review the output and keep responsibility for client advice.

Early results look promising: some bookkeeping tasks that used to take 20 hours a month now take about six, the company says.

Limetax was founded by Christoph Gamon, Maximilian Meyer and Christoph Dansard, who previously built up Razor Group and fintech unicorn Augustus. The founders say the goal isn't just adding another AI tool but rethinking advisory and technology together, freeing up tax advisers to spend more time on judgement calls and client relationships rather than repetitive admin work.
