The Berlin AI company Peregrine has been acquired by Dresden-based telematics provider YellowFox. According to a company press release, the move follows more than three years of collaboration between the two firms and is intended to strengthen YellowFox's internal expertise in artificial intelligence.

Together, YellowFox and Peregrine have developed an AI-powered video telematics solution for professional fleet management. The technology analyzes traffic situations, driving behavior, vehicle surroundings and the vehicle interior in real time. It can identify potential hazards and provide drivers with warnings, helping fleet operators improve safety for drivers, vehicles, transported goods and other road users. The system also provides image-based documentation in the event of an accident.

With the acquisition, YellowFox aims to expand the use of AI technologies across its telematics platform and increase its technological independence. The company currently supports customers with cloud-based solutions for fleet, asset and workforce management and manages more than 125,000 connected vehicles across the DACH region.

For Peregrine customers, nothing will change. The Berlin company's brand and existing technology portfolio will remain in place. According to the press release, Peregrine will also continue developing new data-driven business areas beyond fleet and transport solutions.

Founded in 2019, Peregrine develops AI software that turns camera data into contextual information in real time by combining image, vehicle and environmental data. The company also collaborates with European research institutions in the fields of computer vision, robotics and artificial intelligence.
