Berlin-based startup Integral has raised an €18 million Series A round, co-led by Mosaic Ventures and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, the company announced this week. Existing backers Cherry Ventures, General Catalyst and Puzzle Ventures joined the round too, bringing Integral's total funding to more than €30 million in under two years.
Founded by Lukas Zörner and Anil Can Baykal, Integral builds AI tools for a notoriously unglamorous but essential part of running a small business: bookkeeping, payroll and tax filing. Rather than just selling software to accounting firms, Integral runs its own licensed practice, Integral Tax, directly on its platform. AI agents handle the repetitive parts, reconciling invoices, preparing postings, running payroll and drafting tax filings, while licensed professionals check and sign off on everything before it goes out.
According to Integral, this setup has already changed how fast the work gets done. Since the start of the year, professionals at Integral Tax have reportedly doubled the number of clients each of them can serve, and monthly accounting for many clients now takes hours instead of weeks.
Mosaic Ventures partner Chandar Lal said the need for this kind of automation is obvious given growing labour shortages in accounting. Reid Hoffman added that the model shows how AI can expand what licensed professionals can do rather than replace them.
Integral plans to use the fresh capital to deepen automation across more complex accounting and tax cases, grow its team of engineers and tax professionals, and expand into new services beyond accounting, tax and payroll.
