Berlin fintech mika lands €6M to ease small biz taxes

Berlin-based fintech mika has raised €6 million in a seed round led by Smedvig Ventures, with existing backers Keen Venture Partners and DFF Ventures joining in. The startup also picked up support from a group of angel investors along the way.
Founder and CEO Agnieszka M. Walorska started mika after her own experience running a company taught her how expensive and confusing bookkeeping and taxes can be for small businesses. Her answer was not a faster way to work with a tax advisor, but a different approach altogether: an AI-native financial platform that handles bookkeeping, taxes and controlling in one place, built for founders rather than finance experts.
The idea seems to be catching on. More than 800 small businesses now use mika, and the company says it has grown around 20 percent month over month this year. It crossed €1 million in annual recurring revenue over the summer.
With the fresh funding, mika plans to scale up its platform and keep cutting the bureaucracy that founders often face when starting out. The goal, according to Walorska, is simple: less time spent on paperwork and more time spent actually building a business.
The Berlin team behind the product includes Luke Linnekuhle and Henry Müssemann, alongside Walorska. mika positions itself as being run by entrepreneurs who have lived through the same struggles as their customers, aiming to make financial tools accessible regardless of a company's size.
