Berlin-based fintech Pliant has secured $80 million in Series C funding to expand its international footprint and further develop payment infrastructure designed for AI-powered business processes.
According to the company's press release, the oversubscribed funding round was led by Seaya Nova and Speedinvest, with participation from Illuminate Financial, Motive Partners and Molten Ventures. The new capital will support expansion in the United States and Canada, prepare entry into additional markets and accelerate the company's AI roadmap.
Founded in Berlin in 2020, Pliant develops modular B2B payment solutions that combine commercial card issuing, payment accounts, foreign exchange services and spend management. The company says it now employs more than 300 people across eight offices and processes billions of dollars in annual payment volume for customers in Europe and North America.
The funding comes after three consecutive years of business growth in which Pliant doubled its operations annually. The company also recently surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue.
A key focus of the investment is the growing role of AI in business payments. According to the press release, Pliant's platform allows AI agents to connect directly to payment infrastructure through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The company is also developing its own AI agents to automate recurring finance tasks and payment workflows.
Pliant says businesses in sectors including travel, insurance, e-commerce and AI technology already use its platform, while banks, fintechs and software providers rely on its infrastructure to build commercial payment products. With the latest funding, the Berlin company aims to strengthen its position as a payment partner for businesses increasingly integrating AI into their financial operations.
