Berlin ClimateTech dsb Closes €10M Series A

Berlin's Deutsche Sanierungsberatung (dsb) just landed a €10 million Series A, proof that not all venture money right now is chasing AI. The two-year-old startup wants to fix one of Germany's most stubborn problems: getting homeowners to actually renovate their houses.
dsb was founded in 2024 by Sebastian Schmidt, Niclas Kern and Adam Khenissi, three former Enpal employees who helped build that company's heat pump division. Instead of installing systems itself, dsb positions itself as a neutral advisor, walking homeowners through a personalised renovation roadmap and handling the paperwork for KfW and BAFA subsidies along the way. A network of roughly 300 local tradespeople carries out the actual work.
The numbers are hard to ignore. Customer numbers have tripled since launch, more than 10,000 private clients have already gone through the process, and dsb expects revenue north of €15 million this year. The round was led by Simon Capital and VERBUND X Ventures, with earlier backers IBB Ventures, Vireo Ventures and Atlantic Food Labs joining again.
The fresh capital will fund a push into B2B, further platform development and a new electricity tariff, moves meant to build recurring revenue beyond one-off renovation projects. That matters, because dsb's biggest weakness is its reliance on government subsidies, which keep shifting. Still, with about 80 percent of Germany's 15 million single-family homes still unrenovated, the market opportunity is enormous, even with heavyweights like Enpal, 1KOMMA5° and Thermondo circling the same space.
