Berlin-based AI startup beatsquares has closed a $2 million funding round, according to a press release from IBB Ventures. The round was led by IBB Ventures and Berlin fund XTR Capital, with additional backing from ddvg, the largest shareholder in the Madsack media group, V-Ventures (the media-impact arm of Dutch foundation Veronica), and several business angels. It follows a $500,000 pre-seed round from October 2024.
beatsquares builds AI agents that help publishers and communications teams get their content to audiences in whatever format those audiences actually want, whether that means fully managed social media channels or owned products like newsletters, podcasts, and on-site offerings. Early customers already include Süddeutsche Zeitung, Tagesspiegel, and Messe Berlin.
The fresh capital will go toward growing the team, developing the product further, and expanding internationally. Founder and CEO René Bosch said media houses and communications agencies produce excellent content that only reaches a fraction of its potential audience, and that beatsquares makes sure that work lands wherever people are actually spending their time.
Rayk Reitenbach, Investment Director at IBB Ventures, pointed to the combination of market access and technology as the deciding factor, noting the product is already in use at major German publishers. beatsquares was founded by Bosch, a former deputy editor in chief at BILD, alongside Mark Page and Peter Dyllick-Brenzinger, and counts media veterans like Miriam Meckel and Dagmar Reim among its backers.
