Apple picks Berlin for its first European dev hub

Berlin is adding another milestone to its tech credentials. Apple has announced it will open Europe's first Apple Developer Center in the German capital later this year, making Berlin one of only five cities worldwide to host such a facility, alongside Bengaluru, Cupertino, Shanghai, and Singapore.
The center will be located in Mitte, right at the heart of Berlin's bustling startup and business scene. According to Apple's press release, it is designed to serve development teams of all sizes, whether they are just getting started or polishing a finished product. The space will host regular in-person events, workshops, and one-on-one sessions, with Apple experts on hand in multiple languages to help developers sharpen their skills and improve the design, quality, and performance of apps for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS.
"Europe is home to an extraordinary developer community," said Susan Prescott, Apple's VP of Worldwide Developer Relations, in the announcement. The center reflects Apple's broader bet on European talent, complementing existing programs like the Swift Student Challenge and a network of 19 Apple Developer Academies globally.
The timing makes sense. Apple's press release notes that the App Store in Europe attracted more than 150 million users per week on average in 2025, giving developers access to a massive market across 175 countries and regions. Small and independent developers can also tap into the App Store Small Business Program, which reduces the standard commission by 15 percent.
For Berlin's tech ecosystem, the arrival of Apple's developer hub is a strong signal that the city continues to punch above its weight as a destination for global tech investment.
