Berlin-based startup Kuro has raised €10 million in a funding round led by UVC Partners, with participation from Foundamental, Realyze Ventures and helloworld. The investment will support the company's plan to expand its AI platform for general contractors and bring its technology to more construction businesses across Europe.

According to information from a press release by UVC Partners, Kuro is developing what it calls an AI foundation for general contractors. The platform processes large volumes of project documents and connects them in a single data model. It is designed to help teams identify contradictions in project information, assess risks, evaluate bids and handle public tenders more efficiently.

The need is significant. Construction projects generate hundreds of thousands of pages of documentation, while contractors spend a large share of their time reviewing and interpreting information. At the same time, the industry is facing a growing loss of experienced workers and valuable know-how.

Kuro says its customers save around 90 hours on each bid and that 70 percent of users have discovered information they otherwise would have missed. The company counts Goldbeck, Köster, Implenia, Geiger and Riedel among its customers. Six of its twelve existing customers are among the twenty largest general contractors in the German-speaking market.

Founded in Berlin in November 2024, Kuro currently employs 16 people. The company was created by Lea Scherer and Jonas Minkler, who previously held leadership positions at construction technology companies alcemy and Capmo. With fresh funding and a growing customer base, Kuro aims to extend its platform beyond estimating into additional back-office functions including procurement, accounting and compliance.
