Indie Powerhouse Dirty Hit Lands in Berlin

Dirty Hit, the London-based independent label behind some of indie music's biggest names, is making Berlin its European home base.

The label — known for artists like The 1975, Beabadoobee, Rina Sawayama, and Bleachers — has announced the opening of its first continental European office in the German capital, according to a report by Music Business Worldwide. Leading the new outpost is Noura Labbani, appointed EU Label Manager, who brings over 15 years of experience from roles at Beatport, DICE, and Patreon.

Labbani will oversee Dirty Hit's full European operations and also support the growth of dh2, the label's new electronic imprint led by The 1975 drummer George Daniel. The imprint has already been building momentum through club nights in Berlin, London, New York, Los Angeles, and Paris.

Founded in 2009 by Jamie Oborne, Dirty Hit also has offices in London, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. The Berlin move signals what the label calls a "renewed commitment" to growing across mainland Europe, backed by long-term distribution partner Virgin Music.

Oborne framed the choice of Berlin as a natural one: "Berlin has always been a city where new ideas take shape and culture moves forward, and opening our EU office here feels instinctive — it's about being part of that energy and building closer relationships with artists and audiences across Europe."

The timing makes sense beyond the cultural fit. Germany's recorded music market grew 2.3% year-on-year in 2025, reaching €2.42 billion, with streaming accounting for 84.4% of total revenues — a market that's hard to ignore.
