Salesforce Expands AI Stack with Contentful Deal
A Berlin success story enters the Salesforce platform, bringing scalable content tools to thousands of global brands.
Salesforce has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Contentful, the Berlin founded content platform company that helps businesses manage and deliver digital content across websites, apps and other channels.
According to a press release from Salesforce, the acquisition will strengthen Salesforce’s Headless 360 offering by adding Contentful’s enterprise content platform to its AI and customer data capabilities. The goal is to help companies create more personalized customer experiences at scale across web, mobile, email and other digital touchpoints.
Founded in Berlin in 2013 by Sascha Konietzke and Paolo Negri, Contentful pioneered the headless CMS market. Its platform enables organizations to create content once and distribute it through APIs to multiple digital products. Today, more than 4,000 organizations use the platform, including nearly a third of Fortune 500 companies.
Salesforce says the combination of Contentful’s composable content architecture with Data 360 and Agentforce will allow enterprises to dynamically assemble content based on customer context, language, channel and business rules. The companies expect this to reduce complexity and improve consistency across digital experiences.
“Every meaningful customer interaction depends on the right data, the right AI driven content, and a modern experience,” said Jujhar Singh, President of C360 Applications & Industries at Salesforce, in the company’s press release.
Contentful CEO Karthik Rau said the agreement will accelerate the company’s mission of helping enterprises deliver rich digital experiences across every channel.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
