Berlin's omni:us, a specialist in AI-powered claims processing, has been acquired by adesso SE, one of Europe's leading providers of insurance software, according to the companies' press release. The deal brings omni:us' AI claims automation, already running in production for insurers internationally, into adesso's in|sure Ecosphere, a platform already used by more than 50 customers.
omni:us has spent ten years building its technology and now handles the automated processing of more than one million claims a year. Rather than bolting AI onto existing systems as a separate app, adesso wants to weave it directly into the core software insurers already run, starting with claims and later extending to underwriting and beyond.
The joint plan also introduces an agentic layer that lets insurers build, integrate and run their own AI agents within clearly defined processes and access controls. "Claims is where artificial intelligence has to prove that it can perform reliably under real financial, regulatory and operational conditions," said omni:us CEO Thomas Hauschild in the release. "We have spent ten years building that capability."
Humans stay firmly in the loop. For complex cases or decisions with real consequences, the AI prepares the information and context, but the final call stays with an insurance professional wherever legal or regulatory rules demand it.
The omni:us team, brand and customer relationships continue inside the adesso Group, and existing clients keep their current setup while gaining access to adesso's wider insurance, integration and scaling capabilities. It's a strong sign of Berlin's AI scene shaping how a major European insurance player modernizes its core business.
