Berlin's LiveEO Raises €28M for Satellite AI Push

Berlin-based LiveEO has closed the first tranche of a new funding round, bringing in more than €28 million to accelerate its AI-powered satellite monitoring platform. The round was led by new investors Helantic, b2ventures, and EIC, with existing backers including Nordic Ninja, DTCF, and MMC Ventures continuing their support.

According to the company's press release, LiveEO monitors large-scale civil infrastructure — power lines, railways, and pipelines — using a combination of satellite imagery and AI. The goal: continuous, automated risk intelligence that replaces costly manual inspections. As climate change intensifies and infrastructure ages, demand for this kind of real-time oversight is growing fast.

The fresh capital will be channeled into three areas. First, scaling the existing commercial business in infrastructure risk monitoring, including wildfire mitigation and vegetation management. Second, entering the defense market — the same satellite and AI stack already deployed for utilities is directly applicable to intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. Third, building out Twinspector, LiveEO's own satellite constellation, which will deliver stereo imagery at up to 35 cm resolution, making it the largest 3D camera in space.

The defense pivot comes at a telling moment. Germany has committed €35 billion to space infrastructure as part of its industrial and defense strategy, underlining the strategic value of sovereign Earth observation data. Co-founder Sven Przywarra notes that the synergies between civil and defense use cases are "far greater than most people realize."

Founded in Berlin in 2018, LiveEO now operates across five continents, working with some of the world's leading utility, pipeline, and railway operators.
