Planet Labs Germany is expanding fast, and Berlin is at the center of it. According to a press release from the company, the satellite imagery firm has kicked off recruiting for its upcoming manufacturing facility in the German capital, with plans to add up to 70 new employees to its existing Berlin team of around 150.

The new facility will double production capacity for Planet's next-generation Pelican satellite fleet, a high-resolution line designed to deliver AI-enabled Earth observation data globally. Open roles include a director of manufacturing, a mission director for constellation services, and a range of specialized engineering positions. Hiring is set to ramp up throughout 2026, with more roles in operations and professional services coming online over time.

Planet is no newcomer to Berlin. The city has been home to the company's European headquarters for over a decade, serving as mission control for a global fleet of roughly 200 satellites. The company also counts more than 400 German federal institutions among its customers and partners.

"Berlin is a global epicenter for high-tech innovation," said Martin Polak, Managing Director of Planet Labs Germany, citing the region's skilled talent pool and the importance of sovereign European access to satellite data for security and sustainability.

The expansion signals a strong vote of confidence in Berlin as a hub for aerospace and deep tech, and offers a clear opportunity for engineers and space industry professionals looking for their next challenge.
